Ipsy 100th Glam Bag-iversary
Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription box that sends you sample size or full-sized depending on the subscription tier you chose. These products may either be make-up or beauty products such as facial cleansers or make-up brushes.
This is the review of the 2020 March Ipsy Glam Bag ‘Celebrate You’! This was Ipsy’s 100th bag celebration, that’s 100 months Ipsy beauty box! This month they were giving away extra add-ons low cost, I got one free extra add-on for a $1 and I’ll discuss that at the end of the article!
The bag this month is LOUD when it comes to color and stud pops! According to Ipsy “Neon pops, studs, and style—you deserve it all. This month’s bag was made to celebrate everything that makes you—you!”. I mean, it’s not my style, but damn do I feel sassy and lively holding it. To me, it screams neon, shots, and girls night out! Think I can already taste the cranberry-vodka, or that could be quarantine speaking… happy hour might have started already…🍸 maybe!
Spring calls for sheer washes of color, and this fluffy brush is your must-have tool for applying powder formulas across the lids with ease. The oversized, slightly tapered tip blunt out blends blushes and highlighters.
Each Luxie brush is handcrafted using hypoallergenic, high-quality, vegan, and cruelty-free material. The ultra-soft, synthetic bristle feels amazing on my skin. For me, it’s perfect for highlighting, sweeping on blush, and is perfect for light touch-ups. This brush is very light and feathery. I’m going to have so much used for this! Its retail value is $23. I guess I don’t have enough brushes, I thought I did, but then I think – mayhaps I don’t.
Say aloha to your healthiest lips ever. The citrusy lip balm is made with coconut kukui nut oil straight from Hawaii to moisturize, nourish, and smooth your lips with every swipe. The cruelty-free natural formula is made without unhealthy ingredients like parabens and phthalates.
The scent is fresh fruity and addictive, my lips feel very silky, smooth, refreshed, and citrusy. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you know that I suffer from dry lips from time to time and I cannot get enough lip balms. I keep them all over the house, but I’m not going to lose this one. I can’t say enough about lip glosses I am addicted, I love this one oh, I think a lot of other people would too.
The perfect cleanser should do more than just cleanse, which is why we love the multi-tasker, not only does it get you clean, it uses black tea fermented and soften and brighten, help prevent breakouts, soothe inflammation, and boost your skin’s moisture levels.
Honey Jarret clean whip cleanser smells like roses popping from tiny little foam bubbles. You start with wet skin, creative leather to make a foam. After using my skin doesn’t feel dry and feels plump looks bright feels nourished and all around just smells super good.
I find using it before with my homemade do-it-yourself sugar scrub that I’m getting a clean crisp well balanced clean, the perfect fresh face for a sheet mask, and Honey Jarret makes just the perfect one! I got to try their face masks last month when I was reviewing my February allure beauty box.
In case you had any doubts, this is all-natural, pro-quality pressed pigment eyeshadow is proof that clean cosmetics are just as legit as conventional kind. It’s champagne pressed pigment goes on opaque with just your fingers, it’s flattering on every eye color and shape—trust.
I’m not going to lie, I thought this was a highlighter until I read it because it’s so opaque and shimmery. One Instagram follower even asked me if it was a shimmering bronzer. Well, we were both wrong, it’s an eyeshadow, no denying. It has tons of pigmentation, perfect on my eyelids, it’s smooth and I can easily apply it with my fingers for a complete look. I don’t wear much makeup but I do prefer neutral colors and shimmers, this fits right in with my makeup case! I even love how simple the packaging is. Oh, it’s got a magnetic closer, so if I should forget to close it all the way, and it happens, it will close when I put it back in my main makeup bag.
Whether you’re going for a full beat or natural look, this lightweight (and super effective) primer will make sure your hard work doesn’t fade. It’ll help your foundation last longer and keep your skin hydrated for up to 12 hours with hyaluronic acid and marine plant extracts.
I can’t say enough how much I love primers. I wear primers without makeup most days at home, which in quarantine I’m finding is just about every other day after I exfoliate and moisturize. This primer has a gel texture that soaks right into my skin without any greasy residue. Smells like coconut with a slight hint of a breeze from the sea, it’s fresh and gentle, highly moisturizing. A little bit goes quite a long way, a dimes amount is able to cover my whole face and feel like I still have a bit more than I needed.
The ingredients claim to reduce the look of lines wrinkles so your makeup lasts all day without creasing or caking. I really can’t get over how good this smells, and my skin feels and breathes like I’m not wearing anything, and oh yeah—my skin is super moisturized, super hydrated! Did I mention it’s vegan-friendly, paraben-free, gluten-free, phthalate-free, and never test on animals!
Oily skin needs hydration too (or it becomes dull and even end up producing more oil). That’s where the luxurious, lightweight cream comes into play. Think of it as a tall glass of water (is packed with nutrient-rich botanicals) that’s specifically designed to hydrate oily, congestion-prone skin.
As you can see due to the pictures I have already used more than half of the product, and I honestly can’t get enough, my skin sucks a right up! Though my skin isn’t oily, my T-Zone tends to be, while the rest of my face is extremely dry, only daily soft exfoliation makes my skin manageable.
Perfecting Japanese wild Rose in the Tatcha water cream is perfect for normal to oily skin. I wish I had more because I’m going to be out of this by the end of next week maybe by the middle of next week. If you haven’t used it before, I highly recommend trying it at least once, I promise you you will not regret it!
My add-on for the month was…
It’s not quite summer, but that doesn’t mean your skin can’t glow.
- Known for its magical skin-boosting properties, these tea-infused face sheet masks encourage fresher, younger, and smoother skin while increasing moisture and firmness.
- Containing natural hibiscus flower extract and lemongrass extract alongside anti-inflammatory and antioxidant-rich ingredients of tea tree, rosemary, thyme, jasmine, and anise, this sheet mask duo will help soothe and hydrate while leaving you feeling relaxed and refreshed.
Hibiscus and Acai mask is for a dewy glow, it increases cell turnover and helps reverse skin damage and signs of aging. While the Lemongrass and Green Tea promote anti-inflammation when you want to minimize redness and irritation, it’s great for calming breakouts.
Honestly, I haven’t had a chance to break into these and I will update you when I have tried to these out. Sheet masks are my favorite beauty products!
Verdict: What an amazing bag for Ipsy’s 100 glam bag! Time and time again Ipsy has not let me down for the value of products provided, they even send awesome bags that I have yet to dislike. Ipsy really is the cheapest cosmetic and beauty subscription out there. Ipsy’s lowest tier beauty subscription is just $12 a month and you get so-so much bang for your buck!
To be honest, I’m not big on purses but I do love clutches. Would it be weird if I just stuck my phone and lip gloss inside any of my Ipsy bags just so I can go out without a purse…like I somewhat have my stuff together when I leave the house?! Maybe don’t answer that…
Right, so the next process is now valuing at cost for the amount of each product vs its full-sized counterpart. This is my favorite part of the review process because I get to see what I saved trying out all the products through Ipsy!
March Glam Bag I usually value this at $6
Luxie Beauty Periwinkle Blue #640 is a full-sized product at $23
Hanalei Company Kukui Lip Balm is a full-sized product valued at $6
Honey Jarret Clean Whip Cleanser a full-size is $18 for 3.4 oz, the sample size is 1.05 oz valued at $5.55
Naked Cosmetics Mica Pigment in Mother Nature #05 is a full-sized product at $14.99
Tarte Sea Quench Hydrating Primer a travel-sized is $16 for 0.51 oz, the sample size is 0.33 oz valued at $10.35
Tatcha The Water Cream is a travel-sized for $20
Bubble T Face Mask Duo is an addon I paid $1 for, this is a full-sized product at $7
The total value of the Ipsy Glam Bag – Celebrate You is $92.89 including the themed glam bag and the add-on I got. Without the add-on and the bag, the total value comes to$79.89!
Ipsy is such a great subscription bag for the value!
